ALT and CTRL keys work like the SHIFT key --- hold the
key down while hitting another key
Fn represents a Function key, F1 thru F12 are at the top
of the keyboard
ALT TAB --- toggles through open windows, fastest way to
switch between two windows
ALT F4 --- Close window or program, i.e. QUIT. If you
have nothing open jumps to the SHUTDOWN menu
ENTER --- if you have a file highlighted then will OPEN
that file
ENTER --- if you have a hyperlink highlighted then will
OPEN that link
CTRL O --- in programs jumps to the Open file command
TAB --- jumps around on a web page, to the next input box
or hyperlink
SHIFT TAB --- same a TAB only in reverse order
ESC --- usually gets you out of inputting without saving
the changes. If you started to rename a file and change
your mind while you are typing just hit ESC to leave it
unchanged
F5 --- refresh a list of files in a folder, use it after
you have added to a folder or renamed a file
ALT PRINTSCREEN --- copies a picture of the current
window, this can then be PASTED into a Word document or a
photo editing program
CTRL C --- this is COPY, copy what is highlighted to the
clipboard for PASTING somewhere else
CTRL X --- this is CUT, copy what is highlighted to the
clipboard for PASTING somewhere else, works just like
COPY but deletes the highlighted part
CTRL V --- this is PASTE, takes whatever is on the
clipboard and puts it in where-ever the cursor is
